Caregiver's Support GroupLinks On This Page:Caregiver's Support GroupMission StatementThe Mission of the Caregiver's Support Group is to provide support and education for those who find themselves in a "caregiver role." What is This Ministry About? The South Side Alzheimer's Association sponsors this ministry. This is a support group which supports caregivers of those whose loved ones have Alzheimer's. If you are caring for an Alzheimer's loved one whether it is a spouse, parent, or friend this group is for you. We meet on the first Friday of each month to discuss physical, mental, and emotional care of our loved ones. This group is purely support in nature in that it is run by those in the trenches YOU. We discuss current issues we are dealing with and offer suggestions to those going through the same situations you have already gone through. It is supported by the Alzheimer's Association and provides us with excellent resources as well as offer many free informational classes on the subject of Alzheimer's. This support group is open to the public and you can come try us out any time. When Does This Ministry Meet? This ministry's meetings are held from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. the first Friday of each month at OLG usually in Upper Level Madonna Hall. You do not have to be a member of Our Lady of the Greenwood parish to belong to this group, but our parish hosts this group each month. You do not have to make a reserved spot, just show up. Who May Volunteer to Help in This Ministry? We need people who are willing to volunteer to be a caregiver for an hour and a half once a month. Skills that are needed to volunteer are experience in giving care. It helps if you have a medical background and have worked with Alzheimer's patients before. We need at least three caregivers for each meeting. This group also gives the full-time caregivers resources and support.
