What is This Ministry About?Adopt-A-Grandparent volunteers show support to those in nursing homes who have little or no visitors or family, by visiting those residents and letting them know they are loved and not forgotten. Volunteers visit the elders, play cards with them, spend time with them, read to them, paint their nails, and the list can go on. Who Can Volunteer for This Ministry? The Adopt-A-Grandparent ministry needs understanding, compassionate volunteers to donate one hour per week, one hour a month or 10 minutes just to send a card. This ministry can take very little time or as much as you want to give. We assign volunteers one or two elders in a nursing home. An adult must actually be the one adopting the grandparent but if it is negotiated between the volunteer and the elder to have children visit, the adult has to be present at all visits.
