Mission Statement

The Mission of Christ Renews His Parish is to provide a forum through which members of our parish can experience personal conversion and Christian renewal.

What is This Ministry About?

The Christ Renews His Parish team conducts a renewal weekend retreat twice a year: winter and summer. There are separate groups for men and women. This extraordinary experience is a walk with the Holy Spirit, focused on the Eucharist as the center of the community, that later leads the participants to embrace discipleship.

It is parishioner oriented, rather than clergy led, with the previous team witnessing to the current team. The parishioners who have participated unanimously agree that "Christ Renews His Parish" has changed their lives. Membership consists of previous individual team members.

What is a Christ Renews His Parish Weekend Retreat?

• It is a time to relax, pray, and rethink priorities.
• It is a time to get to know others in the parish and grow as a community.
• It is an opportunity to examine, rediscover, and /or intensify your personal relationship with Christ.
• It is a weekend of reflection and sharing of spiritual and real life issues.

What a Christ Renews His Parish Weekend Retreat is not:

• It is not a silent retreat, yet there are periods of quiet reflection and prayer.
• It is not a parish organization or clique.
• It is not a solitary retreat, your participation makes the retreat a spiritual one for you and the other participants.
• You will not be required to speak in front of the group, however, your participation in the group discussion is a key to the retreat.

What Happens During the Retreat ?

The retreat format involves short talks given by the Christ Renews His Parish team. Some examples of the talks that will be given are Fathers Loving Care, Scripture, Spirituality, and Christian Awareness. You will be in small groups to reflect upon those talks and how they may be relevant to your life and your spiritual growth.

Who May Participate in This Ministry?

The Christ Renews His Parish Renewal Weekend is open to all Our Lady of the Greenwood parishioners, age 18 or older.

Calendar of Next Renewal Weekend

The next "Christ Renews His Parish" weekends for the years 2010-11 are:

• Women's Weekends
   
  • July 24–25, 2010, located in the Our Lady of the Greenwood School.
    It starts at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday and ends at 4:00 p.m. Sunday.

• Men's Weekend
   
  • March 19–20, 2011, location will be announced later.

These Renewal Weekend dates will also be announced at Mass, through the parish bulletin, or perhaps by someone in the parish who may know you and ask you to join in the next Renewal weekend.
