Mission Statement

The Mission of Sponsor Couples is to prepare couples to live marriage as a blessed sacrament.

What is This Ministry About?

The purpose of the Sponsor Couples ministry is to prepare couples to live the sacrament of marriage through dialog about communication, background, intimacy and the marital covenant by meeting with each couple five times for about 2 1/2 hours each time. This occurs over a period of about 1 to 1 1/2 months.

How Can One Become Involved in This Ministry?

Volunteer couples are needed that are living the faith and are well versed on the sacrament of marriage. They also need to have gone through training on Natural Family Planning.

There is an initial training session with the lead couple which last about two hours. There is a training support meeting once a year which also lasts about two hours.

Each sponsor couple is assigned approximately one to two couples per year depending on the number of couples in the parish who are getting married.
