The first place Msgr. Mark visited was Boyne Highlands Golf and Ski Resort in Michigan near the town of Petosky. Petosky is on Lake Michigan and is in the northern portion of the state of Michigan. Refer to the icon of the hiker on the map for general location.

• Msgr. Mark and his family took a day trip to Mackinac Island. To get to the island, they first drove north over the Mackinac Bridge. Then they took a ferry boat to the island. No cars or trucks are allowed on the island. People either use bicycles or horse-drawn carriages.
