Interested in Becoming Catholic?
If you are interested in becoming Catholic or just have an interest in finding out more about our faith, we offer the “RCIA/Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults“. This program starts each year in late August and continues until shortly after Easter.
It is divided into four sections:
This is an overview of our faith. We cover the Holy Trinity, Jesus Christ, the Bible, Catholic prayers and practices, the Mass, places and people of the church, church as Community, an overview of the Sacraments, Mary, and the Saints.
This is the phase that goes more deeply into the Catholic faith. It covers all the sacraments (Eucharist, Reconciliation, Baptism, Anointing of the Sick, Matrimony, and Holy Orders), moral living and Social Justice issues, the Mass in detail, Eschatology, and Church History, including the early Church, the Reformation, and Vatican II.
Enlightenment and Purification
This is the period during Lent when we prepare spiritually for Easter Vigil, the time that those completing the program come into the Church. It is a time of becoming closer to Christ in the practices of Lent and learning more about the Catholic faith.
This seven- week period follows the Easter Vigil and gives the neophytes (new Catholics) an immersion into what it is the believe, celebrate, live, and pray as Catholics.
Who can attend?
Anyone with a curiosity and interest in learning what the Catholic faith is all about. All are welcome: the unchurched, the unbaptized, the baptized of another faith, baptized as Catholic but never schooled in their faith, or those who are fully Catholic and want a refresher course!
