Have you seen the Stewardship display board in the Narthex? It says “OLG Stewardship: Help Us Fund the Mission.” There are pictures of various OLG ministries offering examples of what makes this such a vibrant parish. There is also a “thermometer chart” that tracks our Stewardship contributions each week and compares them to our $1.7 million parish budget as we move through the year.
There is a strong correlation between our ministries and our financial stewardship. OLG can’t provide these ministries if we are not able to pay for them. We are very thankful for our parishioners who give generously to make OLG such a great place to worship, to learn, and to serve! Thank you!
During Lent every year, we ask families to make a financial stewardship pledge to fund our parish’s mission. On the back of the pledge sheet is a chart that explains what stewardship is at OLG, and how to make a stewardship tithe.
If each family offered the parish tithe amount, we would triple our collections. If each family contributed even half the tithe amount, we would exceed our budget by more than $1.2 million. Imagine that! We would not have to conduct our many fund-raisers, have people at church selling you stuff, delay the maintenance on our parish buildings and facilities, or worry about how to fund our many needs!
As you read the bulletin each week, you see the opportunities to be involved in our many ministries. We change lives every day because of these ministries. Some examples: feeding over 21,000 hungry people at our food pantry, offering Mass and sacraments to our 6,000 parishioners, educating children and adults.
See how we’ve changed the lives of a couple of OLG students. Go to our OLG Parish or OLG School web site or our Facebook pages and click on the video stories of Gerard McGee and Delaney Jones. These students are just 2 great examples of how OLG ministries make a big difference!
Thanks for being a part of our OLG Parish family and helping us to fund the mission!
