Mission Statement
The Mission of the Girl Scouts is to inspire girls with the highest ideals of character, conduct, patriotism and service so they may become happy and resourceful citizens.
What is This Ministry About?
Girl Scouts of the USA is the world’s preeminent organization dedicated solely to “all girls” where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adult volunteers, girls develop qualities that will serve them all their lives, like leadership, strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth. The Girl Scouts of OLG additionally emphasize God and spiritual life.
Who May Join This Ministry?
Any girl of school age 5-11 may join the Brownie program and any young lady 11-17 years may join the Girl Scout program.
Who May Volunteer to Help in This Ministry?
Any parent or person is usually welcome to pitch in and help with the girl scout organization. The requirements are listed on the official website of the Girl Scouts of America website.
Volunteers are needed for everything from organizing and running troop meetings to running field trips and other events.
Time commitments depend on the grade level and how involved the individual volunteer wants to be.
Volunteers 18 years of age and older are required to complete the “Safe and Sacred” program.
