Congratulations to OLG parishioner, Jamison Henry on beginning his discernment with the Trappist monks of the Abbey of Gethsemani in Kentucky. Click the link to read more about Jamison’s entry into the monastery.
With the help of Msgr. Svarczkopf and his brothers in the Knights of Columbus Jamison has been discerning the possibility of religious and priestly life for quite some time. After several extended visits last year, the monks have admitted Jamison as a postulant, which is the first step towards pursuing life as a monk.
There are several more times when he will discern his commitment to the community. First as a novice, later during temporary vows, and when the time is right he will make permanent vows as a Trappist monk. For now, we celebrate that he is in the monastery and praying and working with the monks every day. Please keep Jamison and all those entering into religious life in your prayers!
