You can’t take it with you. I bet you’ve heard that before. One topic that many of us avoid is planning our estate. Who needs estate planning? Every adult who is legally competent, owns anything and cares about who receives it at the time of their disability or death.
On Saturday, November 2nd, OLG is hosting a seminar called “Estate and Gift Planning”, from 3:00-5:00pm in Madonna Hall. A light meal will be provided. You can find a registration form at the desk in the Narthex, or call the Parish Office.
Attorney and OLG Parishioner Dave Lekse will talk about writing a will and putting your estate plans in order. He’ll discuss why planning is important in giving you peace of mind and providing security for loved ones.
Financial planners and OLG parishioners, Shane Matthews and Michael Kalscheur will discuss: Charitable giving from retirement accounts, making a planned gift from a charitable annuity, and estate gifts though a will or trust. They’ll discuss the impact of the tax law changes on charitable giving, and suggest smart strategies for giving to OLG.
OLG Pastor, Fr. Todd Goodson will discuss the importance of planned gifts, and how OLG would use them.
Jim Maslar, Philanthropic Advisor for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis will talk about how to leave a legacy by making a charitable gift to OLG Parish or another ministry in the Archdiocese. Jim will share information about the Catholic Community Foundation, and opportunities to establish or contribute to funds that will support OLG and its ministries.
I look forward to seeing you on November 2nd.
