ALTAR SERVER MINISTRY
The ministry of altar servers encourages our youth to practice their faith through dedication and service. The role of altar servers is to help and support the priest and deacon during weekend Masses. Additionally, servers may assist at weddings, funerals, quince años Masses, Holy Days, and other worship services and ceremonies. Serving is a wonderful opportunity for boys and girls to witness vocations to the priesthood and religious life! WHO CAN SERVE? Anyone in 4th grade through high school, who has received the Sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist, is invited to serve. Being an altar server helps children learn more about their Catholic faith, and also helps develop teamwork skills and self-confidence. Training sessions occur at numerous times throughout the year, and are announced via OLG website, bulletin and Flocknote. DUTIES Servers need to arrive 15 minutes prior to Mass. Responsibilities include lighting altar candles, carrying the processional cross and processional candles, and assisting the celebrant with the Roman missal and other liturgical books used during Mass. Servers may also be asked to prepare incense, and assist during its use. We currently ask for 3 servers per Mass. MONAGUILLOS
El ministerio de los monaguillos anima a nuestros jóvenes a practicar su fe a través de la dedicación y el servicio. El papel de los monaguillos es ayudar y apoyar al sacerdote y diácono durante las Misas de fin de semana. Además, los servidores pueden ayudar en bodas, funerales, misas de quince años y otros servicios y ceremonias de adoración. ¡Servir es una maravillosa oportunidad para que los niños y niñas sean testigos de las vocaciones al sacerdocio ya la vida religiosa! ¿QUIÉN PUEDE SERVIR? Cualquier persona en 4to grado hasta la escuela secundaria, que haya recibido los Sacramentos del Bautismo, la Reconciliación y la Sagrada Eucaristía, está invitada a servir. Ser monaguillo ayuda a los niños a aprender más sobre su fe católica y también ayuda a desarrollar habilidades de trabajo en equipo y confianza en sí mismos. Las sesiones de capacitación ocurren varias veces durante el año y se anuncian a través del sitio web, el boletín y Flocknote de OLG. DEBERES Los servidores deben llegar 15 minutos antes de la Misa. Las responsabilidades incluyen encender las velas del altar, llevar la cruz procesional y las velas procesionales, y ayudar al celebrante con el misal romano y otros libros litúrgicos que se usan durante la Misa. También se les puede pedir a los servidores que preparen incienso y ayudar durante su uso. Actualmente pedimos 3 servidores por Misa.
