EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION (EMHC)

WHO CAN SERVE?

The Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion must be Baptized, Confirmed Catholics.

• They must attend Mass every Sunday.
• If they are married, it must be in a marriage that has been approved by the Roman Catholic Church. If they are living with someone in a romantic relationship and not married by the Church they are not able to participate in this ministry.
• They must be at least eighteen years of age or older.
• They should be persons who sincerely try to live the Gospel message in their communal and individual lives.
• They should strive to live according to the theological virtues (Faith, Hope, & Charity) and cardinal virtues (Prudence, Justice, Fortitude, and Temperance).
• They must possess a positive sense of the Catholic Church.
• Abiding Reverence for the Presence of Christ in the Eucharist and in the assembly of the faithful.          
• Comply with the prescribed parish policies and the policies of the Archdiocese. 
• Attend a training session.  (These occur several times yearly.)
• Be commissioned by our Pastor and approved by Archbishop Thompson.
• All EMHCs must be re-commissioned and approved every 3 years.

 Training is provided several times yearly, and as needed. Announcements for forthcoming training dates will be posted in the Sunday bulletin or here on our website under announcements and on our website calendar, and Flocknote.

EMHCs choose a Mass time that fits their schedule and teams are formed accordingly.  After attending an initial training, new EMHCs will be contacted and scheduled.

 DUTIES

The role of the EMHC is to assist priests and deacons with the distribution of the Holy Eucharist during Masses at Our Lady of the Greenwood. Bishops, priests and deacons are "ordinary ministers," and laypersons who assist with Holy Communion distribution are known as "extra-ordinary ministers."

EMHCs should assemble at least 10 minutes prior to the Mass at which they are serving, and may be entrusted with the tabernacle key.  Purification of the sacred vessels, and set-up for the next liturgy will be discussed at training sessions. An EMHC may also be required to set up for Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.

 MINISTROS EXTRAORDINARIOS DE LA SAGRADA COMUNIÓN (MESC)

 "El que come mi carne y bebe mi sangre tiene vida eterna, y yo lo resucitaré en el último día. Porque mi carne es verdadero alimento, y mi sangre es verdadera bebida. El que come mi carne y bebe mi sangre permanece en mí y yo en él. Así como me envió el Padre viviente y tengo vida por el Padre, así también el que me come tendrá vida por mí. Este es el pan que descendió del cielo. A diferencia de vuestros padres que comieron y aún muerto, el que coma de este pan vivirá para siempre". Juan 6, 54-58

 ¿QUIÉN PUEDE SERVIR? 

Los Ministros Extraordinarios de la Sagrada Comunión deben ser Católicos Bautizados y Confirmados.

• Deben asistir a misa todos los domingos.
• Si están casados, debe ser en un matrimonio que haya sido aprobado por la Iglesia Católica Romana. Si viven con alguien en una relación romántica y no están casados ​​por la Iglesia, no pueden participar en este ministerio.
• Deben tener al menos dieciocho años de edad o más.
• Deben ser personas que traten sinceramente de vivir el mensaje del Evangelio en su vida comunitaria e individual.
• Deben esforzarse por vivir de acuerdo con las virtudes teologales (Fe, Esperanza y Caridad) y las virtudes cardinales (Prudencia, Justicia, Fortaleza y Templanza).
• Deben poseer un sentido positivo de la Iglesia Católica.
• Reverencia permanente por la presencia de Cristo en la Eucaristía y en la asamblea de los fieles.
• Cumplir con las políticas parroquiales prescritas y las políticas de la Arquidiócesis.
• Asistir a una sesión de entrenamiento. (Estos ocurren varias veces al año).
• Ser comisionado por nuestro Pastor y aprobado por el Arzobispo Thompson.
• Todos los MESC deben volver a ponerse en servicio y aprobarse cada 3 años.

La capacitación se brinda varias veces al año y según sea necesario. Los anuncios de las próximas fechas de capacitación se publicarán en el boletín dominical o aquí en nuestro sitio web bajo anuncios y en el calendario de nuestro sitio web y Flocknote.

Los MESC eligen un horario de misa que se ajuste a su horario y los equipos se forman en consecuencia. Después de asistir a una capacitación inicial, se contactarán y programarán nuevos MESC.

DEBERES

El papel del MESC es ayudar a los sacerdotes y diáconos con la distribución de la Sagrada Eucaristía durante las Misas en Our Lady of the Greenwood. Los obispos, sacerdotes y diáconos son "ministros ordinarios", y los laicos que ayudan con la distribución de la Sagrada Comunión se conocen como "ministros extraordinarios". 

Los MESC deben reunirse al menos 10 minutos antes de la Misa en la que están sirviendo, y se les puede confiar la llave del tabernáculo. La purificación de los vasos sagrados y la preparación para la próxima liturgia se discutirán en las sesiones de capacitación. También se puede requerir un MESC para preparar la Exposición del Santísimo Sacramento.
